Richard Luftig has a long history as a New York City wine buyer. That passion and carrer parlayed him into creating opulent and elegant wines in Sonoma with the help of winemakers Clay Mauritson and Emma Kudritzki.

This wine is a true small lot wine at just 250 cases produced. I believe it has the capacity to age for several years, but out of the gate it is inviting. A big Cabernet Sauvignon that quickly opens with aromas of blackberry, black currants and warm winter spices.

Those aromatics follow to the palate and close with a persistent finish, well integrated tannins lending to a suppleness on the palate. In short, YUM. Drink now through 2027.

Love on Mars is a micro-selction of barrels of premium Cabernet Sauvignon that aged differently than the others at Pied à Terre. After exhaustive sampling and blending, Richard Luftig found 10 barrels that developed a bit quicker and more opulently than the others. It is one of the mysteries of winemaking: same wine, same barrels, same everything…different wine.
