This Wednesday we mark a milestone here at Bag & String Wine Merchants -- 10 years in business on Chautauqua Avenue!

“Many things have certainly changed throughout the years,” Sam said recently of marking a decade in the retail wine & spirits industry.

“However we have never wavered in our focus on hospitality and unparalleled service as well as wine education and a selection which meets our customers’ needs and budgets."

"Those were the primary goals upon which the shop was started, and remain our guiding mission to this day.” 

Responding to the challenges of COVID-19 in 2020, Whitmore and staff bolstered both the shop’s curbside pick-up and delivery services — while simultaneously streamlining the shopping experience with increased online ordering and the development of a shopping app for smartphones.

However, due to continued COVID-19 restrictions and safety protocols, there will not be any anniversary tasting event or gathering at this time.

Additionally, the store remains open for in-person shopping during the village’s road construction project on Chautauqua Avenue. To continue to get the best in wine and spirits to its valued customers during construction, the shop is scheduling curbside pick-ups at its door behind the shop — as well as waving its local delivery fee through Friday, May 28th.

Wine club memberships with the shop only continue to grow, according to Sasha Wakefield, store and wine club manager.

Club memberships with the shop offer an opportunity for members to explore the world of wine from home, and the 15% discount on wines for members year-round is pretty great too!
